It was never good enough (in my own eyes, and anyone else around me). Interestingly both of our sons are very handy and will work on anything.

A few months ago, I did did a simple repair and my wife of 40 years said, “I never knew you could do that!” I had safely hidden my ability to do SOMETHING handy and feigned ignorance so well. My standard line has always been, “Let’s call someone to do it right.”

In a sense that is pride, and I recognize that now. But my patience at not having something work the first time I tried to repair something always left me incredibly frustrated.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6629495239759840142.post-21334146020585019202011-07-15T09:26:16.815-04:002011-07-15T09:26:16.815-04:00DJ, you make a very good point here about patience...DJ, you make a very good point here about patience, something I certainly need more of, too. But, I really liked your discussion of "the handyman." I can sure relate to Jeff! My wife will not sometimes say, "Just call somebody to come fix it b/c I need it right away." Ah, maybe in retirement our true mechanical talents will be fully realized!Warren Baldwinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17956713921509659993noreply@blogger.com
