Honoring Our Fathers

Honor your father and mother. Exodus 20:12

There are different ways of showing honor. One of the best and most appreciated is often the most overlooked.

Patience. Look at the definition: an ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay: to have patience with a slow learner.

Also one of the fruits of the spirit. What a great video!

Good one, Sonya Lee! I actually had another idea in mind. I wait a couple of days to mention it. But patience definitely fits here. Thanks.

You need a warning label on this video. GET A BOX of TISSUES!!!

I was convicted from the heart - perhaps because on Sat. morning over the weekend a little sparrow hit my picture window and fell to the ground dead. I was so upset about it and kept looking at it there in the garden below. I even went to my Bible that morning to read many verses about sparrows from the Bible - then I asked the Lord what He was trying to show me.
Today - here - in this video - God spoke.

I had been promising my father [who is 92 and lives alone with my mother who is 90] that I would come and visit soon - meeting them halfway since they live 3 hours away. Yes - he still drives and loves to but my mother has lost her memory from dementia and no longer talks or really knows who I am. Though I talk with him every Sat. morning by phone - I know he longs to see me again. Perhaps this was a sign that my mother doens't have long to go - I don't know - [or perpahps it's me that doesn't have long to go] but I'm making a phone call right now to set up a meeting with them both.

God used all these things to speak to my heart. I knew that sparrow meant something - and I waited until God gave me the answer.

Thank you for bringing this video - but it gripped my heart like none other. Also says something for Journal writing. That father wrote about what was precious to him at the time his son was young. Wow~

Still wiping away the tears,
Stephanie
